The job of a web programmer can be quite lucrative, especially in this day and age where lots of business is being done online. Most of the major companies you can think of – Amazon, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Bi-Lo, Energy Savings, Wal-Mart, Home Depot – all have websites that were set up by web programmers like what you are hoping to become and there are always new businesses and old ones that are in dire need of a man who knows the language and culture of the web.

Surprisingly enough, becoming a web programmer isn’t as difficult as many people would have you believe. Most of the learning starts with the basics and that includes a little something called HTML. HTML or HyperText Markup Language is the basic fundamental by which all websites are built on. Many sites have expanded from this base to include other complex programming languages but if you want to become a programmer then there really isn’t any better place to start. HTML is even taught in many high school courses so you know it’s something that can be picked up by a budding programmer like yourself. There are plenty of free services and online courses you can take on this language too so take a look and have fun with it.

The World Wide Web is made of a serious of websites brought together by the language of HTML. HTML is best described as a language for websites. They show your browser the description of the site.

HTML is short for Hyper Text Markup Language. If you look at the last two words you will see that it says markup language, it is a common mistake to think that HTML is a programming code. What HTML actually is, is markup tags which HTML uses to present websites the way we seem them in our browser. These tags are referred to as HTML tags.

When looking at the code of HTML you will see the HTML tags are surrounded by brackets <>. Most of the time these brackets will come in pairs to start the code and to finish the code. These are referred to as opening and closing tags. The start of the website will start with
and finish with
.

While the web has advanced from text based websites to websites with streaming video and audio HTML has allowed us to advance as our computer capabilities have. Without the work of HTML the World Wide Web would be a much different place.

An outstanding opportunity to learn the essentials of software programming is at the International Conference on Software Engineering to be held from Jun 2″9, 2012 in beautiful Zurich, Switzerland. Those wanting to submit papers for consideration in the conference will have to do so by September 29, 2011. The conference even offers a mentor to those who have never submitted a paper before. The hotel is a great location for this important conference. The food is outstanding and the staff is very attentive. When not busy with the conference, participants will have a great time playing on the lake.
The conference itself will be held at Kongresshaus on beautiful Lake Zurich. You can find a quick rundown here Meanwhile at the University of Zurich the Working Conference on Mining Software Repositories, the International Symposium on Software Engineering for Adaptive and Self-Managing Systems and the International Conference on Software and System Process will occur at the University of Zurich, very nearby.
The program committee for this conference is very impressive. It includes such leaders as Robert DeLine with Microsoft Research, along with Harold Ossher and Marco Pistoia of IBM Research. Many important university professors also serve on the program committee. The conference is proud to be able to give special rates to students.

Getting a job as a programmer can be an extremely rewarding experience. The pay is great and there are usually a lot of perks, including the ability to beta test new software packages being developed before anyone else. As with many other specialty jobs out there right now, programming requires a lot of knowledge and experience when in several different fields. In many cases, education can be substituted with proven experience. Either way, all programmers must start with some very basic skill sets.

The most important skill a programmer needs is the ability to perform complex mathematical equations with zero difficulty. It is impossible to write code without a strong sense of the fundamentals of Math. Without this skill, it will be next to impossible to program important algorithms which are essential to the operation of even the most basic modern software. Logic and Mathematics are closely related, especially when it comes to using many programming languages.

Whomever coined the phrase “patience is a virtue” was likely talking to programmers. It takes an extremely long time to write solid code. Programmers are constantly burning the midnight oil by working many hours of overtime. If you are unable to cope with a stressing environment due to a short attention span and a lack of patience, it is probably a good idea to seek a new job.

Java is something most computer users have heard of. Many web sites will not work properly if a JRE (Java Runtime Environment) is not installed on your system.

Most people have also heard of JavaScript. Unfortunately, many people think the two are the same thing. The similar names cause a lot of confusion. There are also some similarities in syntax, and they are both programming languages. However, there are also key differences.

JavaScript is a scripting language used to add elements to web sites. The whole story can be found at http://www.readwriteweb.com/hack/2011/09/google-confirms-hints-dropped.php It is interpreted by the web browser and is integrated entirely within HTML. It is a very straightforward language that is easy to learn. JavaScript is visible when the source code of the web site is viewed. The only purpose of JavaScript is to enhance websites.

Java, on the other hand, is an independent programming language. Although the most common use is for web site enhancement, Java is also used to create software that can run on any operating system. Because Java compiles an intermediate code that is then interpreted by software on the client machine, Java programs can run on PCs, Macs and Linux machines equally well, although they are often slower than native programs. Java programs imbedded in web sites are called Java applets.

In general, too, Java is more secure. JavaScript is often used for malicious purposes such as browser hijacking but it is also the easiest and quickest way to provide enhanced features on web sites such as drop down menus.
